Overview

DoorLogic is an interactive software application for the personal computer that emulates an aircraft emergency exit and escape slide. It allows users to familiarize themselves, practise and be assessed on the decision making process prior to evacuating an aircraft cabin. Simply put, DoorLogic allows for unlimited evacuation slide deployment and inflation, something that is both difficult and expensive to achieve in a training environment. DoorLogic functions as a virtual aircraft emergency exit and allows a user to implement any specific crew vital action based on their own emergency evacuation procedures, viewed from their own visual perspective at the exit.

DoorLogic is intended to be used in two ways. Firstly, as a role playing tool in a group environment, where interactions are conveyed verbally between the participants, or, in a one on one situation where a single user interacts solely with the simulator. In addition, there is considerable flexibility in how a session can be configured by an instructor, where a particular flow of scenarios can be selected for a user if needed.

DoorLogic is not intended to replace any aspect of emergency procedures training but provide a vehicle through which pre-existing crew evacuation drills can be practised.

All situations encountered at the exit are presented visually. There are no additional prompts or aids to decision making. The simulator will simply behave as an aircraft door, it will respond to an action initiated by a user whether it is correct or not, with the appropriate consequences.

When disarmed, the door can be opened using the door handle and closed again using the assist handle on the left hand side of the doorway, or the door handle can be operated once again. The door can be armed and disarmed by moving the arming lever. These functions allow for the door to be normally operated in the non-emergency mode.
